The Salem Parks System consists of six separate recreational areas which include Centennial Park, Waterworth Memorial Park, Kelley Park, W.H. Mullins Park, Salem City Lake and the Eagleton Glenn Recreational Area. The parks are managed and maintained by the Salem Parks & Recreation Department. Within the park system is a 400,000 gallon swimming pool and splash pad, ten pavilions, eight baseball/softball fields, four basketball courts, six tennis/pickleball courts, three restrooms, three large and several small playgrounds, a 220 acre lake for fishing, a 30 acre nature trail, a dog park, a duck pond, a prairie garden and a band shell that hosts 14-17 outdoor summer concerts yearly. Plans are to include two sand volleyball courts and an outdoor adult fitness center in 2020. Various sports programs, activities (for all ages) and special events take place on a daily, weekly, monthly and yearly basis.
